RESERVATIONS

What is the minimum age to rent a car?
- The minimum age to rent a car is 21 years old (with one year of experience), with no additional fees. Vehicle rental is also possible between 18 and 21 years of age, upon payment of an extra fee of €20.00 per rental day.

What is the maximum age to rent a car?
- There is no maximum age limit to rent a car.

Is there a minimum rental period?
- The minimum rental period is 1 day (24 hours).

How do I know my reservation is confirmed?
- After completing your reservation on our website you should receive a confirmation email. This email ensures that your reservation is confirmed. If you do not receive the confirmation email, please check your Spam/Junk folder.

How can I change my reservation?

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

What documents are required?
- To collect the vehicle, you must present:
- Valid identification document or passport;
- Valid driver's license (European Union driver's license or must be accompanied by an international license).

PAYMENT

Do I need to pay a deposit or have a credit card?
- No, you can rent a vehicle without leaving a deposit or credit card.

What payment methods are accepted?
- You can pay for your reservation using the following payment methods:
- Credit card
- Payment on arrival - payment is made when picking up the vehicle in cash or any type of card (debit or credit card).

DELIVERY AND RETURN

Where can I pick up and return the vehicle?
- Airport (this service has an additional cost of €20.00 for pick-up or drop-off);
- GOCAR Store located in Funchal;
- Hotels (Free service for Hotels in Funchal; Delivery of vehicles to Hotels outside Funchal will have an extra cost starting from €20.00)

How do I pick up the car at the airport?
- GOCAR does not have a physical counter at Madeira Airport. Car pick-up at the airport is done at Parking P0 (in front of the Cristiano Ronaldo statue). You will find one of our employees identified with a GOCAR Rent-a-car sign.

How do I return the car at the airport?
- The car must be returned in Departures. You will find one of our employees identified with a GOCAR Rent-a-car sign.

Why is it necessary to identify the flight number when booking?
- If your flight is delayed or changed, our team can monitor your arrival and schedule the pick-up of the vehicle. Your reservation will not be cancelled due to delays or changes to your flight.

If there is a delay, will my reservation be cancelled?
- When picking up the vehicle at the airport, our team will wait for you until your arrival, even if there is a delay in your flight.
- If your vehicle is picked up at our Store in Funchal, we have a maximum tolerance of 1 hour.

Delivery and return outside of business hours
- Deliveries and returns of vehicles outside of business hours (between 20:00 and 09:00) have an additional cost of €17.50 per service.

CANCELLATION OF RESERVATION

If I cancel my reservation, will I be charged a fee?
- Cancellation of the reservation is free of charge up to 24 hours before delivery of your vehicle.
- If cancellation is communicated after this period, one day rental price will be charged.
- If no cancellation is communicated, the entire car rental process is valid.

INSURANCE

Is insurance included in the rental price?
- All-Risks Insurance (SCDW) is included in the daily rental rate.
- With this insurance, you will not have to leave any type of deductible/deposit, and you do not need a credit card.

Does all-risk insurance cover all damages?
- This insurance covers damage (due to collision) and possible theft of the vehicle.
- Does not cover damage to tires, wheels and glass. You can add this coverage by selecting Extra Coverage for 7.50€ per rental day.

FUEL

What is the Fuel Policy?
- The vehicle must be returned with the same level of fuel supplied.
- If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, up to 25.00€ may be charged for each 1/4 tank (this amount includes travel expenses and refueling service).

KILOMETERS

Is there a kilometer limit?
- No, the mileage is unlimited.

ADDITIONAL DRIVERS

How many drivers can I add to my booking?
- You can add up to two extra drivers to your reservation.

TRAVEL ASSISTANCE

Is roadside assistance included in my rental?
- Yes, roadside assistance is free and included in your rental. It is the service included in your insurance and is available 24 hours a day. In the event of a breakdown or accident, it includes a tow truck/taxi to the nearest station, so that you can be delivered a new vehicle free of charge.
- You can also purchase Premium Travel Assistance for 3.50€ per rental day: immediate vehicle replacement on site in the event of a breakdown or accident.
